Tenebrise is a vast continent that was once home to the largest empire that ever existed – the Great Empire. However, several centuries ago, it fell victim to internal strife, and on the day the sacred power crumbled, awakening the slumbering gods, the Goddess Akanta, Mother of All Living, swallowed the sun for several years, plunging the entire world into darkness.

Without the sun, the world descended into chaos, ruled by the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse – Famine, War, Plague, and Death. When the Mother's wrath finally subsided, she saw that demons had taken advantage of her abandonment of her children in the darkness and had seized Tenebrise. In response, she sent her finest warriors to aid them. They destroyed the demons, but not before the infernal forces had defiled the land of the Great Empire.

Now, the continent was rendered uninhabitable – its surface shrouded in Miasmas, causing disease and death. Some fled as far away as possible. Others managed to erect magical barriers, preserving ancient cities that would become the largest on the continent. Among them, three major powers emerged: Aeron, soaring in the skies, Firsa, which found refuge in a network of mountain tunnels, and Astra Vallis, spared from the Miasmas thanks to its location on a high mountain plateau.

Later, a valuable resource was discovered within the Miasmas – a new bone of contention – aetherite, a snowy-white essence that could be crystallized or used as fuel. Aetherite is scarce and extremely valuable, sparking a fierce rivalry between Firsa and Aeron in the race to extract it.
